Executive/Central Committee Membership

What is the Central Committee of the Party?

The Central Committee is made up of elected (or appointed) members from each precinct in the county.  Butler County has 283 precincts, and there are 283 Central Committee positions within the Butler County Democratic Party.  Central Committee members are elected in the primary election of the gubernatorial election year.  If a precinct does not have a representative, members also may be appointed by a majority vote of the existing members of the Central Committee according to the rules and bylaws of the Party.

What is the Executive Committee of the Party?

The Executive Committee is the governing body of the Party.  It includes all of the members of the Central Committee as well as up to 150 additional members who are appointed by a majority vote of the existing members according to the rules and bylaws of the Party.

What does it mean to be a member of the Central or Executive Committee?

Serving as a Central or Executive Committee Member is a wonderful and important role in any political party.  You are the representative from your Precinct to our Party.  In this way, you can support our Democratic candidates up and down the ballot by communicating with Democrats in your precinct about our candidates and important issues as well as helping to put up yard signs in the precinct.  As an official voting member of the Party, you also can make your voice heard on candidate endorsements and party leadership.
