The Butler County Democratic Party has five committees that carry out the functions and priorities of the Party. These committees include Political, Membership, Fundraising, Communications and Special Events. Below you'll find descriptions of each of these committee's responsibilities and contact information for each committee chairperson.
The Political Committee is responsible for recruiting and training candidates for office and for screening candidates for endorsement by the Executive Committee of the Butler County Democratic Party. The Chair of the Political Committee shall be known also as the Political Director. The Political Director shall be appointed by the Chair of the Executive Committee and shall have authority to appoint committee members and establish subcommittees to carry out its functions. The Committee may schedule and execute training workshops for prospective candidates and maintain a candidate handbook to be used to assist with candidate recruitment and training. The Committee may also develop screening materials and/or questionnaires for use in making recommendations for endorsement.
The Membership Committee is responsible for recruiting and training party membership at the precinct level. The Membership Committee shall be comprised of at least four Regional Chairs and a Committee Chair. The Chair of the Membership Committee shall be known as the Membership Director and shall be appointed by the Central Committee Chair of the Party. The Membership Director shall be responsible for appointing Regional Chairs and establishing subcommittees as necessary. The Membership Committee Chair also shall be responsible for scheduling and executing at least four training workshops per year for new and continuing precinct committee members. The Membership Director shall also appoint a Special Events Committee Chair to oversee community events.
Regional Chairs are being appointed for each of the four regions of the county:
- Southeast, including West Chester, Liberty Twp., and Fairfield Twp. chair is Dominick Lijoi.
- Central, including Hamilton, Fairfield (City), St. Clair Twp, and Ross Twp is Johnny Hamilton
- Western, including Oxford, Oxford Twp., Reily Twp, Hanover Twp, Milford Twp, and Morgan Twp chair is Don Daiker
- Northeast, including Middletown, Monroe, Trenton, Lemon Twp., Madison Twp, and Wayne Twp chair is Beth Yauch
Regional Chairs shall be responsible for recruiting new members and for organizing party members and volunteers in their region. Duties may include organizing monthly meetings or social gatherings for regional members; hosting recruitment events such as house parties or phone banks to call prospective volunteers and members; writing and disseminating regular newsletters or email communication to members about party news, events and activities; and recruiting and organizing regional and neighborhood team captains to assist campaigns, including phone bank captains, canvass captains, data entry captains, comfort captains, etc.

The Finance and Fundraising Committee is responsible for raising funds to finance the Party’s operations and campaigns. The Chair of the Finance and Fundraising Committee shall be known as the Finance Director and shall be appointed by the Chair of the Executive Committee of the Butler County Democratic Party. The Finance Director shall appoint committee members and establish subcommittees as necessary to carry out its functions. The Finance Director shall consult with the Governing Board of the Party to establish annual and biennial budgets and fundraising goals. The Finance Director shall then develop a fundraising plan and present the plan to the Executive Committee no later than January 31 each year.
Communications Committee -
The Communications Committee is responsible for developing the party’s messaging and communications strategy to raise the Party’s public profile and attract voters, members, candidates and contributions using diverse media, including but not limited to online and social media, earned media, and direct mail, including electronic and snail mail. The Chair of the Communications Committee shall be known as the Communications Director and shall be appointed by the Chair of the Executive Committee. The Communications Director may appoint committee members and establish subcommittees as necessary.
Special Events Committee -
The Special Events Committee is a subcommittee of the Membership Committee and shall be responsible for the Party’s participation in community events, including parades, the county fair, and festivals as well as community outreach projects to give back to our local communities. The Special Events Committee Chair shall be appointed by the Membership Director and shall appoint members and establish event committees as necessary. The Special Events Committee Chair shall be responsible for maintaining the calendar of community events, identifying prospective community outreach projects throughout the year, and coordinating volunteers to participate in the events.
