Joint Statement from the Democratic Party Chairs of Butler, Clermont, Hamilton, and Warren Counties

March 11, 2026

Southwest Ohioans are familiar with Donald Trump's pattern of empty promises. He pledged to tackle the rising cost of living, threats to public safety, and unending wars, yet these problems have only worsened under his watch.

His administration's reckless economic policies have increased costs for working families, while job growth has slowed and economic uncertainty has spread. Donald Trump has ignored the harsh economic realities facing Ohioans:

  • Ohio ranks second in the nation for increases in gas prices.

  • Almost half of Ohio's 1.58 million renters are overburdened by housing costs.

  • Medicaid funding cuts are projected to cost Ohio $33 billion over a decade, with half a million Ohioans set to lose coverage.

  • In 2025, 882 Veterans Affairs staff positions were eliminated in Ohio.

Furthermore, despite promising to end wars, Trump has involved the United States in new violent conflicts and heightened global instability.

Domestically, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have become unmanaged, terrorizing immigrant communities, causing the deaths of American citizens, and instilling fear in neighborhoods that deserve stability and safety, not intimidation from their own government.

The public was promised transparency and accountability, but instead, they face global instability, economic decline, and an ongoing lack of disclosure regarding the Epstein files.

Southwest Ohio has witnessed this before. Donald Trump arrives with grand promises and catchy slogans, only to leave communities grappling with chaos and harm. Ohioans are no longer being fooled.

Signed,

Chairwoman Kathy Wyenandt, Butler County Democratic Party

Chairwoman Patty Lawrence, Clermont County Democratic Party

Chairman Alex Linser, Hamilton County Democratic Party

Chairwoman Kelly Sakalas, Warren County Democratic Party
